“Sweetly Broken”

The Holy Spirit recently convicted me to share my testimony with someone specific.  Now, without getting into all of the specifics let me just say I have made many, many bad decisions in my life.  Before Christ worked on me I was so very ashamed of the choices in my life.  Someone told me that if God could forgive me of all of my sins then I could forgive myself for my sins.  Once I forgave myself of my sins all of the shame of the bad choices went away.  While I was getting ready to tell my story, I started looking back over my life and was once again amazed at the times that Jesus carried me.  Jeremy Riddle sings a song called “Sweetly Broken” I see so many times when I was broken and it was after those times that I experienced the most growth.  God uses our broken hearts and our bad decisions and our bad circumstances for His glory.  If – and only if – we allow Him to.  I’ve included the lyrics to “Sweetly Broken” by Jeremy Riddle below.  Hopefully, the words will speak to you as much as they have spoken to me.

To the cross I look, to the cross I cling Of its suffering I do drink Of its work I do sing For on it my Savior both bruised and crushed Showed that God is love And God is just Chorus: At the cross You beckon me You draw me gently to my knees, and I am Lost for words, so lost in love, I’m sweetly broken, wholly surrendered What a priceless gift, undeserved life Have I been given Through Christ crucified You’ve called me out of death You’ve called me into life And I was under Your wrath Now through the cross I’m reconciled Chorus: In awe of the cross I must confess How wondrous Your redeeming love and How great is Your faithfulness Read more at http://www.lyrics.com/sweetly-broken-lyrics-jeremy-riddle.html#cuKUtKSe8sdUAx0Y.99

  1. Thanks for the reminder. What a simple way to obey God. To simply say have a blessed day. I often talk to friends and a neighbor or two about God but, I am always unsure of strangers. I do push my comfort level every now and then but this is a great reminder that I should be pushing it everyday.
